The massive wildfire devastation that continues to fume the city of Fort McMurray, Alberta is catastrophic. About 88,000 people were forced to evacuate their homes and be brought to safety. This is the largest fire- related evacuation in the history of our province. The fire destroyed 2400 homes and business establishments southwest of the urban service area. The wildfire had destroyed more than 85,000 hectares of forest.
The Canadian Red Cross had launched a fundraising campaign to help Fort McMurray and all the communities affected by the massive wildfire. Red Cross campaigns to provide immediate assistance and disaster relief for the victims. Donations can be made through Alberta Fires Appeal.
Our church responded and donated financially to extend help to the victims. The Opendoor Filipino Church continues to pray that the Lord would provide for their needs, would give comfort, compassion, and would strengthen the families experiencing grief. As a church, we lift up unto the Lord, the Disaster Relief team, and we pray that people would respond lovingly and promptly, so that countless people may receive help in due time and aid may be handed efficiently.
