Outreach and Evangelism

The OFC  “Outreach and Evangelism Ministry”

Purpose

The goal of the Opendoor Filipino Church Evangelism and Outreach Ministry is to proclaim the Good News of Salvation to the public, and to minister to church members and non -members as they commit their life to Jesus as Lord and Savior. This ministry upholds the teachings of the Bible which is the word of God. “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work”, 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

The great commission

And Jesus came to them saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of this age” Matthew 28:18-20.

The word of God, the Bible, tells us that in the past, God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets. But in this “last days”, God spoke to us through his Son. The Jews understood the “last days” to mean  “the time when the Messiah (Christ) would come” (Numbers 24:14). God appointed his Son- heir of all things, and through whom God made the universe (Hebrews 1:2). His Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his Being. Christ his Son is the perfect imprint, the exact and expressed nature and essence of God .Christ is not just reflecting God’s glory; He is God. He who spoke all things into existence, Christ himself directs all things toward the consummation (the fulfillment) of all things according to God’s sovereign purpose. (Hebrews 1:3)

Purification of sins is God’s abundant and most significant gift to all. The story of God and mankind begins with a broken relationship due to sin that entered human race in the Garden of Eden. When sin entered human race, it severed (disconnected) our communion and our unhindered connection with God. Our personal sins continue to be a barrier between us and God.

Today our broken relationship has been bridged and our spiritual death-because of sin- has been conquered by Jesus dying on the cross. This is how God shows his love for us!  “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16. Only through Jesus, can we have forgiveness and eternal life. “Salvation is found in on one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” Acts 4:12.

By choosing to live in relation with Christ, we are no longer slaves of sin and no longer slaves to the way of life that ends in spiritual death  Spiritual death is eternal separation from God and his loving kindness. It is through Christ that we can experience freedom from the bondage of sin and experience joy – the joy of salvation. “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will” Romans 12:2.

The day of salvation is now. And to be saved, we must confess our sins to God, and declare from our heart that Jesus is Lord. This requires believing that Jesus rose from the dead and is alive today (Romans 10:9). It is the calling of the Opendoor Filipino Church of Calgary to obey the commands of the Lord Jesus Christ. We invite you to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. You may pray to accept Him by praying in your own simple words or pray this prayer: “Lord Jesus, forgive me; help me turn from my sins. Show me how to follow you every day. Thank you for saving me and giving me eternal life. Amen.”
